Our Story

More Than a Butcher Shop —
A Cornerstone of the Neighborhood

El Angel Carniceria & Taqueria started with a simple conviction: the best meals begin with the best ingredients, and the best ingredients deserve an audience. What began as a family butcher counter quickly grew into something the whole of Lincoln Park claims as its own.

Every morning, our butchers arrive before dawn to hand-select cuts that meet a standard we'd be proud to put our name on — because that's exactly what we did. And when the dinner rush arrives, that same dedication to quality moves from the case to the grill, where tortillas are pressed by hand and salsas are made from scratch.

The taqueria side of El Angel is where the butcher's craft meets the cook's fire. Every taco begins with meat that we selected ourselves — then marinated, slow-cooked, and finished on the plancha the way it's supposed to be.

Our tortillas are made by hand, every single day. That means every bite has the texture and flavor of real masa — nothing shortcuts, nothing frozen, nothing rushed.
